Default Volvo brakes on a '36 Ford?

I read somewhere on the possibility of using certain Volvo brake parts for juice brake conversion.

Anyone any info on that? I only found a few older posts with little details. Thanks.

Dennis

The Volvo 122 front disc brakes were sometimes used to upgrade early Fords years (decades) ago. As I recall, the hub/spindle compatibility made this an easy modification.

When I bought my 40 coupe it had Volvo Front Discs. I chose to upgrade to Super Bell Power Stoppers. I decided that if I had problems with the Volvo's replacement parts would be hard to find. I put them up for sale on the HAMB and the lasted less than a day.

Thanks. I'm in Europe, Volvo parts might be easier to get here. I'll do some reading.

I think you may have to change to 37-41 spindles?

The change in bolt pattern is a job stopper for many these days. I remember reading about the volvo conversion in street rodder when I was an early teenager.

I used them 35 years ago on my hotrodA roadster, and they’re still running today.
Great stopping ability on that light a car. The original article that I got the info from was Rod & Custom. The Bolt pattern is 5x4 1/2”. It took a bearing mix and a 1/4” spacer on the inner. Local Volvo dealer ordered what parts (dust caps) that I needed. I cut and turned the simple spindle adapter from 1/2” plate. The spindles are 42-48, but the round 37-41’s look better with the round adapter, IMO.
