Question Muffler heat / heat shield

Hey Guys, I was out driving my car yesterday without the bottom floor board in so I could watch the battery I installed. Of course all the heat was coming up into the cab. However I did notice on the running board over by the muffler the paint had bubbled. I think it is from the muffler heat. Do any of you use a heat sheild or would it even help? Thanks

the older cheaper repro mufflers get rust clogs in the baffle holes and then get really hot. The Aries muffler has the holes in the center pipe, so the rust does not clog the holes. It also breathes easier and will run substantially cooler. If thats still too hot, Leslie Pam makes a muffler heat guard.
