Default torque tube hook up

I am getting ready to hook up the torque tube on my 34 roadster. I have a new driveshaft roller bearing and the speedometer drive gear snap ring that secures it. Should I install the bearing before or after the driveshaft is attached to the differential? Thanks for you help.

i would attach the driveshaft to the differential, bolt the torque tube to the banjo housing and then install the roller bearing, part #7290 thrust washer and then speedo gear and finally snap ring. you didn`t mention the front seal, now would be a good time to change it. of course you have to take the race out to get to the seal. your call.

I did the seal on my 47 torque tube without taking the race out. I knocked the old one out with a drift, then made a driver out of a long piece of pipe and a flat washer slightly smaller than the seal. I then put the seal on the tool with some grease so it didn't fall off, and pushed it all the way in and tapped the end of the pipe with a hammer to push it right into place. Then I followed the steps you outlined.

If you decide to install the bearing after installing the torque tube to the differental make sure you can get the bearing in place before bolting it up. I had one that would not go in after and had to remove the torque tube install the bearing and then reinstall the torque tube.
