Default Restoration Qs...RG & JS..Rear lamp

I picked up a Tuna can rear lamp this weekend from a AA with the mount,I
would like to know more about it.

1.What is the progression of the stamping " in vs out " early to late?

2. Large Ford vs small Ford?

3. The mount is marked " AA ", but does not show-up in the Book?

The license plate is also marked Ford and has a full round socket. I have
a good idea about these Qs., just looking for conformation.

Thanks, Dudley

On my A1276 (December 27) tail light, the DULIGHT with small FORD script underneath is raised (embossed); the same marking appears on the license bracket, this marking is very light and not real visable unless you look directly at it.
The bakelite plug is round and knurled all the way around.
The Tuna can is brass and nickel plated; was very lucky that it did not have any cracks. When I had it plated I told the plater to not do any buffing as was concerned about the raised markings.

This input is for Fred. He sends two pictures. They show stamped in lettering, not embossed as raised letters but stamped down into the metal. Best regards, Rancho

I looked at mine and I have 1 embossed and 2 stamped...no FORD Script on any tail light (tuna can) bodys or licence plate brackets.

So just how many different varriations of the letter stampings are there?

I have "DUOLIGHT" embossed with no FORD script and "DUOLIGHT" stamping with no FORD script.

Fred has "DUOLIGHT" stamping with FORD script below.

Ron has "DUOLIGHT" embossed with FORD script below.

So would all four types be acceptable throughout the usage of this style of rear lamps?

There is one more to add to the above four lamps...

FORD script with "DUOLIGHT" below the script and is embossed.

D.J. What would you consider the one I show, Large or Small ?.. I would think Large on light assy. & the Small one on the plate bracket.. I do have another one & its the same.. Another ??.. We know the time frame use of them, But did one piece stop or run out before the other one did ??.. In other words, One piece script & one not ??.. P.S I have seen more of the raised embossed type than of the stamped in style..

The FORD script with "DUOLIGHT" below the script and is embossed.

On this one, the FORD script is LARGE, small DUOLIGHT.

Fred...Just what was the transition?

Steve,

Didn't even dawn on me to measure the " Duolight ", of the 4 here at work,
there is about 1/8" difference. I have more at home.

Dudley

Fred,

Sorry, I missed your post. Yours looks like the small script, as is Ron's I believe,
just embossed. The large is like the 26-27 T tuna can. Maybe we should start
serializing by size/photos?

Steve,

As an aside. Gee,this could be the start of one of YOUR GREAT articles ?
Or those pesky numbers on the torque tubes ? You know, when you get
done playing in the dirt.

I have duolite with small Ford script below in both raised and embossed. I also have one with the large Ford script above a small Duolite. Doc K told me some time back that the earlier ones were embossed and the later were raised. I don't know if that is opinion or fact. For the non-script tail lamps, I would recommend using the Duolite embossed as the reproductions are raised. DJ, if you got the license plate holder has the Ford script, that is a nice item. Congratulations.
