Default 53 cent oil leak fix

My modified B engine developed an oil leak so I cleaned all the possible sources and started the engine. Oil started oozing from the oil presure regulator. I took it apart and discovered a broken O ring. I replaced it with a new one from the hardware store. It's the least expensive oil leak repair I've ever had.

Just where do I look for the "oil pressure regulator"? Is that near the muffler bearing? Don/WI

Glenn mentioned he had a MODIFIED B engine, so it may have had a different oil pump with a pressure relief to unload excess pressure.

Oil filter systems for pressureized engines use a bypass system as an example of where they are used. Secrets of speed, Taylor engines, to name only two that sell reguator systems.

Hey Mike,
Hereyeare. The large brass 'plug' that you see to the immediate left of the oil filter...is the oil pressure regulator. Pressure is reg by removing plug and changing to ...lighter or heavier spring..to decrease/increase oil pressure.
BTW..it regulates pressure from a Stipe aluminum custom oil pump with hardened Chevy gears. I've got it set at 30lbs, but don't know if it even has a 'top' end pressure point. NOT a cheap pump, but the best?

Ray,
Well, it ain't 'exactly' the riley setup that I envisoned when I built this engine!
The riley intake is the 'equalizer' chamber type, and the riley valve chamber cover is only one I've come across(full pressure filter attachment, etc).
But, the Riley OHV iceing on the cake never came to be! Actually, any OHV setup would make this engine 'sing', but , at the time, ran out of funds for such. So the 7.1 flathead had to do. This NOS russian B block has a lot of the best equipment $ can buy, but sits there awaiting to be awakened. Hmm, thinking that a Stipe 3/4 cam would/could utilize some of whats (HP)available in this setup. Day dreaming for ole farts is fun too! Mabe put this one to sleep and installing the rebuilt '49 merc, 4"crank, that's been sleeping ! NAH! Going to keep searching for the OHV setup for this one.
