1939 Ford coupe help
I'm new to the barn. I recently picked up a 39 coupe that is need of love.
I'm in need of knowledge so I look to you all. 1. Do 39 coupes have different front/ rear fender than sedans? 2. Is there a difference in ride between Mustang II and coilover suspension? 3. Can 39 standard front nose be interchanged with 1939 Deluxe? Any help is appreciated . |

What do you have? A Standard or a Deluxe?
!: Fenders are the same for coupes and sedans. 2: dont know. 3: This can be done with some modifications. Phil NZ |

The front frame cross member must be changed because the radiators are different.

Re: 1939 Ford coupe help
All '39 passenger car fenders are the same.
To swap front clips you'll need to do some heavy modifications to the firewall and cowl sides. Easiest method is it install a '39 deluxe firewall and cowl sides. And, as 4dFord advised, front cross member is also different.

Henry's axle is the way to go. Keeps the classic look and ride. Once you change it over, you've got a restorod. |

Re: 1939 Ford coupe help
Just the cross member is different, not the axle or suspension (unless you're talking about the Mustang II, etc., option).

Re: 1939 Ford coupe help
Try and keep the Henry front axle --don't use the Pinto suspension (oh, I mean Mustang II).

Re: 1939 Ford coupe help
Hi; I have both a dlx and std, If you are dlx, you can use many '40 parts... std use a lot of '38 type parts. Try to stay with what you have, for ease of work. Newc

Re: 1939 Ford coupe help
You might want to post on the HAMB if you are determined to charge out the front suspension. The BARN is geared more toward stock/early style Hot Rods (i.e. original type front suspension). Dropped axles and such are common here, but not the more modern types. Don't get me wrong, there are folks on the BARN that are into ALL types of cars and modifications, but it is something the HAMB is more into.

Best ride modification without doing a lot is Radial Tires
