Default Russ Robinson, This is not the place to vent but!

This is not the place to vent but I have to say something so no one else gets taken.

I sold parts to a Russ Robinson form R&R Restorers, 310 South Road, Somers, CT 06071, Phone 1-890-836-2076.

On 4/13/2012 and have been calling him every month. he has every excuse you can think of for not paying his $155.35 bill.
He claims he has no money and can't pay now you would think If he really wanted to pay me, even $15 a month he would be paid up.

He will no longer anwser his phone if I call because he has caller ID im sure.

So If any one knows this guy or deals with him beware he is a snake.
I have never run into a old car guy I disliked or that cheated me. Too bad guys like this ruin it for the good guys.

Sorry for venting but its been 10 months now and I would pay the guy a personal visit but he is too far away from me.

Bill

Call the Town of Somers,Ct Police. You will be speaking to a "Resident Connecticut State Trooper" as they have police jurisdiction in that town. Explain the problem and ask if you can submit a sworn affidavit of documentation in writing regarding the sale and the lack of payment. Perhaps a visit from a LEO will shake this deadbeat up. If the transaction was done via USPS you can contact your local U.S. Postal Inspector regarding what they can do to help. Here is the Somers/Ct. State Police contact link.

I don't want to be too discouraging, but contacting the USPS would be a waste of time. They will do nothing.

This is too bad. People like Bill Stipe are the last of a breed who do business on a handshake. This activity needs to be supported and nurtured lest we lose it forever.
In my glass business I occassionally send people to get the correct money after a job is done. There's very few people whom I wouldn't trust in this way and it always surprises them (to be allowed to drive away before payment) but I've noticed this act of trust plants a seed of loyalty into the business relationship ...which can pay off in spades as a few happy customers can save you thousands on advertising.
Maybe also we just get smarter and read folks better but every once in a while a bad apple comes through.

If anyone cares, this link gets you to the deadbeat's driveway....nice old house, couple newer model cars and a yellow shovel toy.
Probably even a cozy shop in that barn.

Yes Rustyrim you are correct my typeo the # 1-860-836-2076.

Long story this guy was COD and he purchased some Model B rear alum oil slinger inserts and then sent one back to ask me to rework it to fit his Special seal along with purchasing 3 more.
This guy only has a cell phone. No fax, No checking, No credit cards, only money orders and my Secretary at the time didn't understand some thing and sent them out accidently with out getting the money first. I figured I would not get paid just by the way he talked every time you sold him anything.

Well no sense beating a dead horse but hopefully he will get his when its time to leave this green earth.
I myself could never owe anyone anything I would feel horrible my father instilled in me you don't take anything if you can not pay for it.
Even if this guy would have told me Bill im a stuggling right now but will pay you what I can every month till Im Square.

USPS has helped me with a payment problem (item not shipped), so it doesn't hurt to try them.

Thats too bad bill, I certainly understand your frustration. Its nice to think that people are good, and, most are. But, there are some that are just plain no good.
By the way, I like your shocks and plan on buying one of your camshafts when the time comes.

Bill, his day will come, what goes around comes around or as my dear old Dad used to say, "Time wounds all heels."

Good luck,

Fred

I don't know Fred, I think 290,000 is a bit of a stretch. Granted, it is on 1 1/3 acre but from the looks of things I think the only value is in the dirt, not the dwelling or out buildings. Structures look like pretty much tear down material, but hey, could be the Taj Mahal inside. Oh, and www.zillow.com has it at $190,000; but just like buying a used car, it's all subjective.

Yep, all subjective - here's where it came from:

I disagree, Bill.
this is an excellent place to vent and alert us to a bad apple.
you have been most patient giving this bird almost a year to pay up.
we appreciate your bringing it to our attention in a rational and business-like manner.

Spdway1: Not really, just think if the sleezeball lives in a house worth close to $300,000 he could pay a $155 bill to an honorable vendor. On second thought it wouldn't matter if he lived in a trailer house/mobile home, he owes the money and should step up and pay it, not dodge Bill's phonecalls.

If it makes you feel any better i was just beat out of $2000.00 on a sale of a Model "A" [not mine]..And the seller made a cool $15,000.00 in 5 days.I was promise $3000.00 of the $15,000.00 .....Seller was not happy with making $12,000.00 in the 5 days. He calls up and tells me he is sending just $1000.00 .....He was into Model "A's but now into Chrysler's now..I say let the Chrysler boys have him with my blessing....
