Here's one in a '36 coupe! Fits like a glove! One thing to keep in mind though is that a functional fan can be a real trick to pull-off successfully. DD

Re: 8BA in a 35 car ?
The engine fits, but if you've never done it, it can be frustrating. I found that converting the front of the block to the early 59 series water pumps and crank pulley. the generator and fan can be used. Ypu'll have to use a chevy distributor (For belt clearance) and space the generator out about 1/4". As old as I am, there's always more than one way to skin a cat.

It's about as close to a "drop in deal" as you can get if you don't mind an electric fan. I put one in my '36 20 years ago. You need the truck pumps and bellhousing (though I prefer the stamped steel Merc unit) which are easy to come by and cheap enough. After that, it's just a little basic mechanical knowledge and skill.

Re: 8BA in a 35 car ?
That's a clever solution, but in my opinion something like that takes it out of the "drop-in" category.

Re: 8BA in a 35 car ?
The pre 21 studs are a drop in. The 24 studs through '48 are slightly more difficult and the '49-'53 are the most difficult. This is based on what I have read not on personal experience.

Re: 8BA in a 35 car ?
I put an 8ba engine in my '35 3w coupe in 1959 when I was at total greenhorn on these early Fords. I had some coaching from older friends, but I did all the work myself and drove that car until the later part of 1961. Other than determining the correct water pumps to use, it was basically a drop in. I do recall getting the proper fan to radiator clearance to be somewhat of an issue. If I was doing this conversion today, I would change over to 59 series cam, timing gears, timing gear cover, front mount helmet or crab style distributor, and an earlier intake with fan mount generator, and probably with internal alternator conversion by Ed Whitney.
