Default Pedal Positioning & Band Adjusting

Whilst I had the engine out replacing the brass bolts in the magneto, I also decided to change over the hogshead on my T to allow for a starter motor to be fitted. That all went well. I am now at the band adjusting phase.

Two questions that I am hoping someone on the forum can answer.

I have jacked the rear wheels up to allow testing. But realistically, is there a best way for a single person to adjust the bands?

I seem to recall on my old hogshead setup, all three pedals were basically in a line. As per the pictures, with the current hogshead, the pedals all all over. Is this adjustable? Is it part of adjusting the bands?

Many thanks
John

I never worried about the position of the pedals. Adjust the forward band until the car just starts to creap with the brake handle in neutral. Do the same for reverse. The brake band should have no drag on it, but be able to grab the spinning drum quickly. Use the hand crank to check for the car creaping. I do the adjustments with all four wheels on the ground. With this method, if your pedals are too close to the floorboards, the cams need replacing.

The reverse pedal should "stand proud" of the other two - the brake & slo-speed pedal were originally (& should be) straight across from each other - the brake pedal appears "bent" most likely from years of stomping on that pedal.

Wondering, is your hogs head inspection plate upside down? The pedals look ok to my eyes and maybe the "bend" in the brake is a bend in the foci of the camera.

No, the inspection plate is positioned correctly.

On my computer it looked like the ribs were upward, instead of down to direct oil to the center of the bands. Optical illusion I guess.

Low band should be adjusted so fully engaged and stops about 1to 1-1/2 inch above the floor. Reverse and brake, so they don't drag and do their job.
