Gas Tank Cutaway Photos
I have some photos by Brent Terry of cutaway gas tanks. Are there any others available for posting here. I am building a presentation for my Model "A" club about gas tanks and I need more photos of cutaway tanks.

That's pretty cool. I'll assume the baffles are to keep the gas from splashing around.

Re: Gas Tank Cutaway Photos
Is the tank top screwed, bolted or weld on?

The two halves were welded while submerged originally. We cut them thru the center of the factory weld. |

Thanks for the photos, I wondered what the inside of the tank looked like.

Re: Gas Tank Cutaway Photos
The side to side baffles are original, not added on by someone. How else would the weight of the gas pushing aside to side in a car not effect steering and performance??
10 gallons of gas would weigh 80 lbs or more. A lot of weight for an unrestricted tank

Re: Gas Tank Cutaway Photos
The newest edition of the Model A News magazine, shows a guy's gas tank that had had some kind of crap sprayed or sloshed around on the inside, probably in the 70's or early 80's before Ethanol, to coat the tank, the junk came loose, and it was blocking the fuel outlet in the tank.
Looked like Granny's undies piled on the car's seat after he took it out of the gas tank. When you see the stuff you say to yourself 'What the ----------?' |

Re: Gas Tank Cutaway Photos
Bob,
I have at least 1 30/31 tank with the top cut off at my shop. If you want to photograph it feel free to come over. OR, if you want to, you can take it home and do what you want at your leisure. Bob Bader |

If I recall correctly, the front to back baffles were added for 1930/1931. 1928/1929 only had side to side baffles. Brent Terry posted some really interesting gas tank pictures a couple of months back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Gas Tank Cutaway Photos
Brent,
I need pictures of the interior yank at the locations of the steering support and the shutoff valve in 1928-'29 and in 1930-'31 tanks. Thank you Brent and all of the others who contributed to this post. Bob Bader, I would like to borrow your cutaway tank as a show & tell piece for the clinic on July 10th. I will stop over as soon as I can drive again (cataract surgery today). Thanks for your offer. Stay well my good friend.
