Here are some Old Bones '34 3W pics and info to check out
Hello Barners, thought I would share some info on a car that arrived this week. This coupe has never been restored or apart, a real time capsule.
Here are some features I have never seen before: * ownership history to new * same owner for 46 years * original tools and bag in the rumble compartment * tack strip never touched * all soft goods are original, yes, they are kind of a mess, but a great conversation piece * opening the glove box to see the untouched woodgraining * original drive train, motor was rebuilt in 1974, with receipts! * starts right up and runs great Enjoy, and ask any questions you may have, and if you need a photo of something let me know. |

After market (street rod) roof insert stands out like like a sore thumb. Other than that, super survivor.

Beautiful history in the wear on this car.
Thank goodness they ignored the instructions from Julianos top roof insert to place the hidem strip on the roof and pop rivet it to the roof beyond the tack strip. At least they had the sense to fit it to where the tack strip is. |

Thanks for the comment, just have to patch the 82 year old muffler and drive it. Taking this Saturday to cars and coffee, should be fun.

Wow!! What a phenomenal find! I would make it a safe reliable driver and keep it exactly like it is now. A full restoration on that beautiful survivor would be a real pitty.

Curious, how does one find such a gem? Luck, feelers, a scout, a service? That car is just perfect in my opinion. Great find and I agree with your plans.

Jealousy is a terrible thing. What a wonderful car. Is the radiator cap correct? - It doesn't look right to me....

No that cap is not correct, and missing the round rear end floor cover, and has cast iron heads put on when rebuilt in 1974.

I sometimes wonder if I've spent more time driving my 34's or restoring them. All totaled I'm guessing about 70k miles over a 20 yrs period. So about 5 hours/mo driving compared to countless hours in the garage tinkering. I'm glad I enjoy both! Drive'm till they break, fix'em and drive some more... |

It already runs great, needs no mechanical work at all. Just have to patch the original muffler and get the tail lights working.
AND today i found the original cigar lighter inside the ash tray! Yeah!! |

IMO It is a good idea to disconnect the cigar lighter wire at the fuse block.

Digger, what a great find, a real time capsule of a 34 Ford. Hope it can stay just as it is. What is the gallon can hanging from the left radiator support rod for ? Temporary fuel tank or upper cylinder lube. Thanks for the great pics. Regards, Kevin.

Great car-what a find!!! Based on the window sticker it appears to have spent time in New Jersey and was inspected in June of 1970.

Correct, that is when the previous owner registered it. On September 22, 1975, the original motor was rebuilt in Elmer, NJ. On the shop order, mileage shows 51,694 so I was incorrect earlier. Since it now has 51,829 miles, it has been driven only 135 miles 41 years!!

The skirt is an aftermarket, VERY cool and desirable item. Have a pair of them? They change the appearance a lot when installed.

Re: Here are some Old Bones '34 3W pics and info to check out
I own a pair of Bruce Johnson aftermarket skirts and they are on the my car that is on the current cover of the V8 Times.
The pair that came with this old bones car are originals. Easy to tell the difference by small square sheet metal plates on the back, as you can see in the 33-34 Restoration manual. |

It's still 'unrestored'....

the top is puffed up with foam instead of cotton we call it puffed top syndrome. a simple mistake that a lot of restorers and upholstery shops make.
