What wheels are these?
These are on a '38. I really like the look. Were they original? If so, what years/models did they come on?
Thanks, gary |

Re: What wheels are these?
A close up of just the wheel might help. I think you should have had a 5 on 10-1/2 bolt pattern so something has been changed.

Re: What wheels are these?
The pickup was for sale on craigslist and that's the best shot of the wheels. I couldn't round up the funds or I'd have bought it. I've never seen wheels/hub caps like those and would like to identify them so I can keep an out for more.

Could that whole thing be a hub cap?

Re: What wheels are these?
If I had to guess I would say someone changed the truck to 5 on 5&1/2 bolt pattern drums and the wheels are or were narrow chrome smoothies that got painted with new caps. Tim

Re: What wheels are these?
Is that a Tonner truck? They had specific 17" wheels with an odd bolt pattern and hubcaps.

Re: What wheels are these?
I'm gonna say it's a tonner. Note the 3 stake pockets, not two. I have owned five of them and four were listed as a 3/4 ton. The 3/4 ton was a very short lived variation of the tonner family. It had 16" wheels with a wide 5 pattern and a full floating rear hub. The tonner, much more common, had 17" multi-piece wheels and you can see the raised ridge behind the hub cap. Behind that hubcap is a 5 on 6 7/8" bolt circle with 3/4" studs/nuts, and a full floating axle. I honestly don't have any personal experience with the 3/4 ton, so I could be missing something. And those caps do look like the baby moons from, JC Whitney, Western Auto and others. This is a 17" tonner wheel and 7.50 x 17 for compatison.

Re: What wheels are these?
It originally came with a V8-60 (as noted by the hood emblems) that had been replaced with something larger.
