Default 59A-B oil pan

I have a 1947 Ford convertible with a 59A-B V8 engine. I am looking to replace the oil pan which I believe is part 59A6675-B. I have two questions.

1. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a pan?

2. How involved is replacing the pan (and associated gaskets) while the engine is still in the car?

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Any help appreciated. Thank you.

The drag link and wishbone are in the way.Crossover exh pipe maybe also.Wishbone probably biggest issue as the pan has to clear the oil pump pickup.Don't know if just dropping the wishbone from the ball connection will give you enough room.

Dropping the wishbone allows enough room but just barely.
In my opinion, it's easier / quicker just to pull the engine.

I believe that the crank has to be in proper position to allow clearance from the crank throws and rod bearings. Another downside is around the time the 4th piece of dirt in the eye happens, you start to get careless and wish you'd pulled the engine and be done with it.

I have done it on my 48 with the engine in the car. I unhooked the motor mounts, jacked the motor up and put blocks under the water pumps to hold it up. The crank has to be rotated to get the pan to drop and clear . The worst part is putting the pan back on & getting the gasket right. I myself would not do it that way again.

The truck two-piece oil pan allows you to get at the clutch and flywheel without having to remove the entire pan. We have two of these in our used parts stock right now. Otherwise, as the others have mentioned, it’s really best to pull the engine to get to everything properly.
