I had a 42 standard business coupe.
With the welded cross member. As i understand it is was use a short while, and then dropped for the riveted version, much cheaper to manufacture. Less parts and less work=cheaper. I have the pics in higher resolution. |

Some more photos for you. The rusty one is an Aussie 46 coupe ute chassis and the cleaned up one which was blasted and sanded is a US 47 Mercury. Both are welded in the same areas.
Out of interest I have also included one of the hand brake set up on the ute chassis as they have parallel rear springs. |
