Spark plugs.
I changed the Motorcraft, modern style top spark plugs to Autolite 66 14mm with an adaptor and the center and ground electrod sits further into the combustion chamber. I did this after i put a modern style distributor in my car. Should i be concerned about this? I also have a Z head.. No, my car has.
I do not want to start a perpetual topic, but what is preferable the Champion X, Champion 25, Champion N16YC, Autolite 66 or NGK BP-4ES. I have read a lot about sooty #1 cylinder. |

Re: Spark plugs.
Champion x's run best hands down. Champion 25s are next best. The 14mm plugs are supposed to be the hardest to keep from fouling. If you are having fouling problems, make sure you have a heat pipe on. Do you have a waterpump? If so, do you run a thrermostat?

Re: Spark plugs.
Thanks Dough Money, i believe i have to invest in 4 Champion X after all. I skipped the waterpump after putting a Berg's radiator in my car. Do You know if there are
modern style terminal nuts with the older thread, like the old Champions? I use 90degr. Rajha terminals now and Packard 440 cables, but of course i can change to ring terminals again. |

Re: Spark plugs.
O'Reillys Auto Parts carries the X plugs for 19.96 each. Cheapest price anyone has found so far. With the new radiator, you don't need a waterpump I don't know about the new style terminals.

Re: Spark plugs.
Have run my car today for 30 minutes. Runs very smooth in low and high with no hasitation with open throttle. Had to adjust the pedals a bit. Howls a bit in reverse, ok, it's an old car...or?
Two of the Motorcraft 11 plugs leaks a bit in the thread, fixable with sealing BUT all four plugs leaks between the porcelain and the shell/sealing material... Normal..? They are brand new! This was my first longer trip ever in a Model T and i LOVED it. I put her in the garage and took my daily car for shopping. I was immedeately a better driver...i planned my driving.. braked like i did not have any.. and drove very slowly ;-) |

Re: Spark plugs.
No, the plugs shouldn't leak around the porcelain.
They are a blast aren't they. |

Re: Spark plugs.
The saying " if You buy quality You only have to cry once" is sure a good one...
Are the new Champion X the same quality or are they made in U.S.? |
