Default Source for Dome Head Hex Bolts?

I know that several of the supply houses sell CERTAIN dome head hex bolts but I have not been able to locate the 5/16-24 bolts required for the outside door post rear view mirror on a 28 CCPU. Does anyone know of a source? Thanks!!

Also look at McMaster-Carrs website. They sell nearly everything.

For clarification purposes, since both are hard to find in an accurate manner. You are referring to the bracket to body bolts, and not the mirror to mirror post set bolt, correct?

Both are hard to find, but the bracket to body bolts are easier to replicate.

I have been looking for the same bolt for years. I can't seem to find any either. Maybe someone knows a source.

Is the one on the left what you are looking for, looks like it would be easy to make.

Yes, as others have mentioned, just fabricate it using some hex stock from McMaster and grind a tool with a radius to match the original dome out of HSS. Then machine the hex stock to about 0.3120 and either thread it on the lathe, -or use a die after you have parted it from the hex stock. If you don't have a small lathe, ask your friends to see if anyone they knows has a small hobbyshop lathe. If none do, then there is your chance to have your very own lathe for your garage!!

I think you Model A guys need to be checking with Michael Driskell at Third Gen Automotive for all your correct type fastener needs. This guy is the best vendor I have ever dealt with. He also has a large inventory of Model A parts.

I believe I have found a source for the 5/16-24 x 1" dome head bolts in black oxide finish at www.restorationstuff.com. Check out item NUT492 on page 40 of their downloadable catalog. I just ordered a couple.

3rd Gen Parts took over Roy Naciwicz's Ford bolts business. Michael is in the business to supply a good portion of the original type bolts & fasteners that were used by Ford back in Henry's day as well as a lot.of other restoration parts.

I've bought several things from them at Hershey over the years and have been very happy with their products. Can't tell you one way or the other about your specific bolts but they have good stuff.
