Oops! Left the ignition switch on 40 Ford Truck
Hey Fellas, HELP!!! I was pulling up in the driveway and the truck stalled. I was going to push it up in driveway and got sidetracted. Left the ignition switch on, not knowingly. I thought that when i started it up to move it, it cranked a little slow. I put a battery charger on it not knowing that the on/off switch was on all that time. Now nothing!!! Stupid rookie move... What do i look for first, New Optima battery and a new rebuilt Bubbas Diz. Where do i start??? Thanks Ken

Define "nothing". Crank, no start. Or NO crank, no start?

I think you might have two problems. I would check the switch to make sure power is going though and after you fix the no crank problem you might have a no start problem with the coil or points.

I would think that if you were lucky and the points were open when you charged the battery, your coil would be ok. Check all connections from battery to starter.

Re: Oops! Left the ignition switch on 40 Ford Truck
I ran an Optima battery back when they first came on the market and when it died, it just died. Don't overlook the obvious. If the battery won't pass a high rate discharge test it's time for a new one. If it charges back up and turns the starter OK, go on to the coil, condenser, & points.
