Default Inlet Manifold ID

Have this C I inlet manifold as per pics. On top there is a marking F3 then a marking K 23 S or K 23 9. this one hard to see. The slots at inlet side LHS these are for vaccum line connections at top side for wiper and distributor?

Yes, wiper and distributor, which dates it as before 1949. Aluminum dates it as pre-war. Carb mount dates it as before 1939. Other features eliminate early years, leaving ‘35-‘36. A casting date on the underside might nail it down further.

On the underside just noted a large 2.

Correction: after a more careful review of Phil's first three pictures posted above, the height of the generator mounting is not typical of a '35-'36 intake manifold as I first thought. It does appear to be the same height as our US '37 and later intakes at the generator mounting. So, I think Brian gave the correct answer on this first intake manifold.

Appreciate advice and inputas always. I guess the CI construction along with the grooves at the inlet underside for vaccum lines would help date it. Have an aluminium 46 manifold fitted to a 99a engine and was looking at a more period correct manifold. Just have to ensure correct push rod for fuel pump for CI manifold.
Thanks Phil NZ

With only two flavors, it works or it doesn’t.

So found this manifold which came with a 21 stud Pilot Motor.
This inlet manifold has an ID number at internal surface. CI 81C-6520. Identifies as a 38-40 manifold. There is a difference to original one posted in way of carb riser and internal somewhat. See this one. So this one would seem to be the correct one for the 99a Engine??
Thanks Phil NZ

Phil, You've got a '39 manifold there. One thing to check for correctness: The rear vac port should be 1/4", the front 3/16". I can't tell from the photos. Good condition!

The first one might be a Pilot, but I have seen a similar manifold on a USA produced motor.
FWIW I have used that type of manifold to make my hidden pcv setups. It is possible (I've done it) to drill and tap into the lower face and break into both runners at the same time. You can't do it on the other type shown, as the exhaust chamber is in the way. If you want to use manifold no.1 with a 94 you have to plug that heat riser hole.
I showed the pcv setup in this video:
https://youtu.be/PutitWEltWw

And modify it in this one: https://youtu.be/Bpa9NkSQ8vo

Appreciate info. So No1 is the earlier manifold and No2 is the later one.
ie 1938 to 1940 as there is one similar listed at ebay at present.
Many thanks

yes, #1 is 37 , because lower gene mount than on 35-36, also the carb flange is same shape as Stromberg 97 used in that year. The 2nd manifold, the carb base is chevron shaped to suit the newly introduced Chandler Groves/Holley 94 as introduced in 1939.
