One of the numbers on the speedometer for mileage does not match the other numbers. The first number appears to be off about a half.

So, instead or reading 77,777.1 the first 7 on the left is stuck halfway between 6 and 7.

How do you take the numbers apart to rearrange them? I got the tenths off but nothing else.

The odometer assembly needs to be taken all apart and each wheel and change gear installed while correctly timed. If it is all done right, then it is a beautiful thing, but one error will show up as a misaligned digit. I have done about 1000 of them, still not easy, can only work on odometers about 2 hours at a stretch.

I know a guy that put new number tape on his odometer & PURPOSELY put them UPSIDE DOWN, for a LAFF!!!
Chief would sometimes hook up his AMMETER backwards, just for a LAFF.
There's a lots of folks that are so INSECURE, they'll do anything for ATTENTION!!

After making an attempt at messing with a speedometer, I chose to let the experts do the job. My choice was "Papanick", who is fast, reasonable, and does excellent work, but there are others out there as well.
