Re: Which new carburator for my 317 Cui Lincoln motor?
Funny this comes up I just did one. I bought a generic alum adaptor, I stick my neck
out that teapot 4 bolt is the same as small block GM to go to a 2300 square bowl Holley. Never ran so good as now. Air cleaner the same fits right on. Then If you can find an intake (which I got on Ebay) for a 57 Merc with a 368 cic 4 barrel Holley. Best and for cheap just get adaptor plate ebay summit racing there's many on line. Course you have to tweek the fuel line but it goes right on and works perfectly. At least parts for the 2300 holley are found anywhere . sam Oh the two barrel Ford / Autolite fits too same pattern is the Holley.... |

According to the application guide it is a non-Loadamatic distributor so it is correct if you are replacing the carburator with a different type from original. Be aware that you will may need to use the distributor drive gear from your old unit. Compare the two carefully for differences in pitch, etc.

On Ebay there Where a lot of Different Pumps? Which is the right one? And now the best thing, my best friend make me a great gift , he has only one old Ford intake manifold ( he is a GM man) and that is from 1957 FordY-Block. Now i need only the oil pump, and the the distributor. Greetings Dieter |

Re: Which new carburator for my 317 Cui Lincoln motor?
There were only two types of oil pump for the y-block, the regular gear type pump and the gerotor type. They are interchangeable but the gear type is very common whereas the gerotor type is fairly rare and thus more expensive. The pump drive shaft must match the type of of distributor shaft, either hex drive or tang drive. I'm not familiar enough with the Lincoln y-blocks to say which you have, but Ford did away with the tang drive after the '54 model year. Take a look at the end of the distributor shaft to see which you have. As to the intake manifold, it will not work on the 317. The Ford y-blocks are physically smaller and the intake runners are stacked one over the other. The Lincoln intake runners are conventional, i.e, not stacked.

Thanks for the answer. The Problem is, that in Europe the Most People work on GM Cars. Ford only Mustang. Y-Block was not popular here because Parts are expensive and hard to get, but i like Ford Cars.

9 1/8 is the correct length.
The 8" drive is the shorter drive (obviously) Oldmics |
