Default 40 Heater Questions

I just found a heater for my 40, so now starts the test & rebuild process. I've got a few questions I need help with:

1) The mounting bolts were torched off-how long should they be?

2) It's missing the spacer sleeves that go on those bolts. How long are
they?

3) I've seen heater pictures with big washers (that look like they have a bite out of them) on the mounting bolts. Are these inside or outside the firewall & why the "bite"? Clearance for something?
Thanks, Bob

Spacers are about 1" long. The flat washers go on the inside. The spacers go in to the cowl insulator and against the inside of the cowl. Combined with the washers, they keep the heater away from the insulator. Those bolts were about 1 1/4" as I recall.

The bite is to clear the accelerator pedal crossover covers on the inside of the firewall insulator.

Someone on the Barn surely has a template for mounting the heater where it will mount in exactly the right spot and not interfere with anything else or vice versa.

Thanks everyone for the info & suggestions. Russ, I'd already found that flatheadv8 site in my searching-good stuff- it showed me how to test the 4-wire motor & it works!
Thanks again. Bob
Could use a full size mounting template though......,

Bob,I would think you should be able to bring view % up to scale and print.Looks like about 120% brings it up to scale.Maybe someone with a lot more computer knowledge than me will chime in on this. Russ
