Default 32 V8 spoon/throttle/Gas pedal measurements.

Hello All,

I'm a long time FordBarn user especially the old one, but mostly read now or look in the classifieds.

I have been chasing a 32 V8 gas pedal assembly and haven't had any luck. Well last night I was looking at the B model one I have and feel I can shorten it to make it work. However I need the measurement of the length of the shaft that runs horizontal across the firewall if anyone has one they can measure for me.

I can see a bolt hole that looks to be the one that the supporting eyelet bolts through, which gives me a rough idea on length, but I would like to try and replicate the original length.

I have pinched this link to a photo off a classified here, its the piece on the far left I would like to know the measurement for.

thanks for your help.

I'm sure that a lot of us 32 guys also have a 1932 4 cylinder Throttle Assembly that they would like to convert to a V8 assembly. I have had a couple of 1932 V8 Throttle Assemblies in my grubby hands before, but I wasn't smart enough to think about converting the 4 cylinder to a V8 at the time!

In addition to the length of the cross shaft, I would also like the dimension from the center line of the cross shaft to the center of the tip for the carburetor rod? Another critical dimension is the angle of the hole for the pin that holds the spoon pedal to the cross shaft (angle with cross shaft laying flat like in the picture)? While asking what is the length of the tube?

David G, Do you have a print of the cross shaft that you could post?

The print would have all the data.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I believe the spring is also different?

Mine measures 6 3/8" from end of shaft to the outside of the bend. The hole for the pin is 3/8" from the end.
See this thread for some angle info: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108382

I get about 4.206", with the ball measured at .275" dia. This end of my rod was altered at one time so the measurement may not be exact.

Thanks Bill,

In your post you gave the link to the thread on, you mention the angle of the hole in the shaft as 55 degree's I take it you measured this off the last photo?

Also am I reading it right that the angle of the spoon pedal arm is about 66-7 degrees?

thanks.

Sorry, but I'll be away from my old car stuff until early December. It's correct that the return spring is not the same (four versus V-8).

Wouldn't it be easier to modify a 1933-34 V-8 pedal just add the extra nub for throttle?

Describing angles can be difficult so I made a drawing to make it clearer; these angles are referenced to the vertical where in the other post they were referenced to the horizontal.

Again,

Thank's Bill. That will help me immensely. I really want this car back on the road in the next few weeks. And this is one of the jobs that stands in the way.

Bill,
Thanks for the info in your posts #3, #4 and #8! Exactly what's needed to make the conversion from a 4 cylinder to V8 configuration.
