The passing of a hobby icon
Dave Cole of Santa Maria, California passed away on Friday. His many contributions to the hobby through his research and writing for the Early V8 and Lincoln Zephyr clubs were without precedent. May he rest in peace.

Re: The passing of a hobby icon
Everything Dave wrote was long on scholarship and research. He was a wonderful supporter of the hobby and set a high standard for journalists of every marque. His contributions will be missed. May he rest in peace.

Sad news indeed. Always enjoyed Dave's articles in the Early V8 Times.

Re: The passing of a hobby icon
Dave Cole was a great guy. All of us learned a great deal of Ford history from his numerous articles in the V-8 Times. He will be missed and difficult to replace. Rest in peace Dave in V-8 heaven.

Re: The passing of a hobby icon
Dave and Ken Tibbett co owned a '41 Lincoln Conv and before he died, they donated it to the Early Ford V8 Museum in Auburn, In. It is pictured on the cover of the V8 times, Mar-Apr issue I think, or Jan-Feb. He got his last ride in it a few days prior to his death.

Re: The passing of a hobby icon
I have read V-8 Times as far back as the early 70's and enjoyed Dave Cole contributions immensely. He will be missed but not forgotten.

Re: The passing of a hobby icon
I enjoyed the many interesting articles that Dave wrote for the Way of the Zephyr. He went into great detail on the Zephyrs that added to the enjoyment of ownership. He will be greatly missed.

Re: The passing of a hobby icon
I knew Dave well from some of the Zephyr meets. He was a great guy always willing to help. At the time I had a 37 Zephyr 3 window coupe. He wanted to see the hot air heater in my car. I made him a copy of the installation instructions and sent it to him. They came in the box with the NOS heater.

Re: The passing of a hobby icon
I never met Dave but I feel like I knew him, with his great writing talent, researching skills and overall early Ford knowledge. I learned so much from him and he is one more part of the end of an era. Thanks Dave, your legacy lives on with what you taught us. PHIL SPAID

Re: The passing of a hobby icon
His articles in the V8 Times were so impressive. He amazed me with his ability to put together so much information in such a short time period. I am sure he worked on some articles much longer than a couple of months. I will miss him, even though we never met.
