Yep, your correct, it's a 1948 59a engine with a custom built alternator. The fan is late flathead, does that count?

I would like to see pictures of the ones offered by Mac's, Speedway Motors and others please. My car is a basic driver - not a show car - so no need for chrome and other thrills - thanks.

Mine , nothing great here just standard ol' SI 10 3 wire. Typical only charges above idle.. But its never been a problem. I use my pickup daily.

Here's a one wire GM alternator on an 8BA. Aluminum alternator bracket was cut down to make alternator sit lower down on the engine. There is also a fusibale link in the wire that goes from the battery terminal to the back of the alternator.

I bought my horseshoe and 10Si from Certified Electric. Pretty stout, but I found it was vibrating fore-aft at certain RPM's. I added some stiffening ribs to the horseshoe, cured that. It has been totally trouble free electrically.
