universal joint disassemble
I am replacing the yoke and bearings on the universal joint for my 40 Ford. I have to remove the locking clips to get the old bearings out. I've tried to get under the clip and pry it out, but have had no success. How do you get the clips out of the universal?
thanks, Don |

Re: universal joint disassemble
Thanks for the input. I thought maybe removing the clips was straightforward but I was missing something. I tried to pry the clip up with a dental pick but failed. Then I thought maybe one of my "precision " screwdrivers ( The kind of small drivers that come 5 in a box at places like Radio Shack) might work. I drove a small screwdriver into the groove with a hammer and was able to pry the clip up enough to get the end of an ice pick under it. I was able to pry the clip up and out. The clip is slightly distorted so I'll use new ones upon reassembly. Thanks again

Re: universal joint disassemble
I use a Dremel with a cut off wheel and cut each retaining ring in two places.
