I have a '35 jack that has the upper portion stuck hard in the position shown. Can it be repaired and how is the jack disassembled?

Thanks ... and Ford Barn's software keeps turning the jack on its side, and I'm not going to screw with it anymore. Maybe 'cause it's a "flip-top" jack.

Probably will need to soak it in acetone ATF mix for a week or two. If that don't get it loose I think I have one in the parts barn that I would sell. Would have to post pics of it to make sure it is the right year as I do not know the details of the changes year to year. Rod

I take it that there are no screws on the bottom like my 36 jack...that made it easier for me to take the bottom off . I did this quite a few years ago and can't remember what I saw. Terry

I had a more modern screw jack stuck like that. Had to put it in a press to retract it a little while turning and it broke free.

No screws on the bottom but I suspect that's the approach. The bottom appears to be "folded" over the body of the jack.

Certainly more soaking will help ... even total immersion to get the penetrant to the right spots.

Fill it full with atf--acetone and try working it, all the parts were put in the bottom, the cover crimped on, the screw thread is peined, they don't come apart easy--and putting together to not look like it was apart is not easy
I have found several at yard sales(1-5$),moved up in condition, the stuck ones sold to people that just wanted it for display

Used Lonnie's advice substituting some careful hammering for a press. It worked. Did not want to start tearing things apart. Now soaking. Thanks for all the advice ... every bit excellent.

Better. What caused it? Did not see how to rotate it in Ford Barn. Tried to give it opposte 90 rotation before uploading but FB still posted the same.

I post plenty of pictures ... curious but not bewildered.

Hoop......I ain't no pic-postin'-genius either. But I have found a couple of ways to get around a system that keeps slappin' my ass. In this case, I remembered that the ONLY place I've seen available (to ME) to ROTATE pics is in "MY PICTURES" on my computer, once I've downloaded the pic. So, I downloaded your "limpy" jack pic to MY PICS, rotated it, and posted it as an "erect" jack as you see it now. DD

That didn't work for me. Seemed FB wanted it on its side. Oriiginal was erect.
