Cool Rumble Seat Trim Retainers

Hi Guys: Does anyone have the dimensions for the wooden strips that go in the side of the rumble seat area to hold the side trim panels. They appear to be about 3" wide, 1/4" thick and 2 1/2' long. Looks like somethings that's not available.

Thanks: John Poole

I am not sure that 28/29 and 30/31 wood strips are the same. 3" seems quite wide from what I have see. I thought they were not near as wide, but that is just what I remember. What year roadster do you need the dimension for? I got the information from Ron Rude some time ago for a 28/29 roadster. I have no idea whether the dimensions are correct, but Ron usually knows what he is writes about.

Dimensions for mounting wood strip for the side upholstery panels (from Fordbarn - Ron Rude).
Made from hardwood like oak or ash.

29- 3/4 " long
1-1/4 " wide
5/16 " thick

From photos on Bob Johnson's cabriolet website, on the '30 cabriolets, they go from the rear vertical deck lid mount up to the back side of the door striker post which is about 43", 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" wide and 1/4" thick. That is about what I putting in my '30 cabriolet. It will probably vary with the body style and year.

My Aug ’28 roadster that originally came with a rumble seat has what I believe are the original wood slats and the dimensions are 28 x 1-1/4 x 1/4.
