City: StaenIsland
State: NY

looking for a known good w/shield regulator '39 Ford or I had read that a "repair plate" may be available(spent a lot of time looking) .The repair plate will fix the stripped tooth on my existing regulator...I Like the kool look with the W/shield propped open.

I bought mine from a guy on ebay. His user name was something like chevy-shack. He was in Ohio. Great part and very inexpensive. Wish I could offer more.

I MIG welded new teeth on my regulator and then cut the spaces between the teeth with a die grinder. If the broken teeth are well hidden, you could use a Dremel tool to cut the spaces. My regulator works fine, but I am careful not to overtighten it. Most regulators lost teeth because the windshield rubber leaked and making it tighter seemed like the way to go.

I was looking around ebay today and found a listing from the fellow that sells the new gears. Evidently he made a load of them and is now selling them in bulk. 4 for $20 What a deal. Here's a link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1939-Ford-Wi...sories&vxp=mtr

There were 2 types of regulators for 1939.
One with steel gears and one with cast alloy.
The cast ones are advertised on e-bay from time to time for about $10 each.

Did you ever get a windshield regulator? If not, I have a freshly rebuilt regular with a new aluminum gear in place that replaced the common broken one that is usually in them. Freshly painted and ready for use. I see them go for over $100 on ebay, I will let mine go for $100. I also have a windshiled frame that is in very good condition with nearly perfect glass and a new seal installed. [email protected]
