Worth it...?
I might be able to pick this up for around $2500. It's supposed to include the fenders, seats, engine and title... Opinions please...??
Thanks [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Last edited by mjr67; 06-08-2016 at 07:04 AM. |

Re: Worth it...?
Yes if solid looks like a great start. My two cents - if you are looking for a decent A to drive and enjoy spend a bit more up front and be driving this season. If you are looking to do a restoration this seems like a pretty nice start. Maybe you want a perfect car and want to know what is in the work, or just want the experience of a good old fashioned "I did it myself" restoration.
The better the start the better the finish is a good general rule to follow, and while only one pic, looks like a pretty decent start. So the question of is it worth it to me is really about your goals. The only way I would say it is not worth it is if you have designs on restoring and selling for a profit, very, very hard to do especially if it is your first project. Do it because you want to and the actual restoration work is part of the experience and you will get the value that way.

Re: Worth it...?
Looks like it will restore very nicely. I always like to find the ones with no rust holes.

As previously stated, restoration is a journey. Enjoy the trip. Don't get in a rush or you will miss part of the enjoyment. |

Re: Worth it...?
Move on! In my opinion it is overpriced! It is going to cost a lot of money to restore it . There are too many unknowns such as are all those parts really there. Is the motor seized. Etcetera! Buy one already restored and start enjoying immediately, Wayne.

Re: Worth it...?
IMHO, yes it is worth $2500. But be aware, unless you do substantially all work yourself, you will be upside-down. You will have more in it than you can get out of it. That said, this is a hobby and not NECESSARILY investing.
Enjoy building it, driving it and include family/friends/others interested in the endeavor. Go for it. |

If you can get others involved, it will go a lot faster and a lot more fun. I have a 40 that friends helped on and those nights in the garage were priceless. As for $2,500, a hot-rodder would give you more than that for the body alone. Just saying Good luck , it's all about the fun. |

Re: Worth it...?
Looks solid.
Motor may have surprises. Looks like someone started a resto...looks like RIO primer on there. I personally would not pay more than that. All the above advice is right on. If you are not much for hands on, walk away and shell out for something ready to drive. Remember the paint and upholstery at the end add up to a staggering amount of money.....

Re: Worth it...?
That quality body would sell for that much here without the chassis and fenders.
I say that it is a deal. |

A Hot Rodder would have bought by now, this isn't a project to overthink. Bob

Re: Worth it...?
In my not so humble opinion the car to s worth six good original front fenders are worth five hundred alone the body is worth 4. Not to a restorers but it is worth what it is.

Re: Worth it...?
Not to beat the old dead horse.. if the plan is to restore it to drive and you can do the work, it is a great deal. if not, look for a done or at least running car and pay more.
I am in the process of bringing what was turned into a Roadster from a Sport Coupe, back into a Sport Coupe. I would NOT recommend doing it again. I am doing the work myself and it is turning into a money pot. Best of luck. |

Re: Worth it...?
It is worth $2500 and you can likely sell it for more.
It is worth it for you, then you need to do some serious soul searching. How are you set up for doing all the work for yourself? It is just a tudor that will never be worth a lot. If you are able to everything for yourself, this car will likely only cost $10,000 more to properly restore then what you could buy a restored car for. Do the numbers for yourself. Get a Bratton's catalog and look up engine work costs. Now you could throw it together with mostly used parts, a quick paint job and sell a driving car at a profit. That is why we have cars that are only good to drive up to 45 MPH. Your wallet, your time, what do you want to do with it? I would consider buying the car cause it has a title and of you put it together and make it move under its own power you can probably get $4000 for it. |
