Hello. Does someone here have any information on how to use this Kr Wilson Pinion Clearance Indicator? I love this tool but I'm not sure how to use it. Thanks for any help.

Ya pretty sure lincoln had no published specs for pinion preload or lash. They came as a set assembled to the banjo. Makes sense you would need a gauge to install and maintain factory settings

Re: Kr Wilson Pinion Clearance Indicator
I’ve never seen any Ford/Lincoln literature on rebuilding the Hypoid rear. All the literature I’ve seen says that the dealer sent them back to the factory for rebuilds . I’ve rebuilt two of them , following instructions from long ago Lincoln magazines. They have a hard sleeve in the pinion and they were marked A,B,C. They were different lengths. Might even need to add shims to get the correct preload on the pinion. The pinion nut is torqued to 300Ft pounds. It’s definitely a different animal than the Ford units.
