Re: US Customs blocking import/export of NY registered vehicles
What is basically happening, is that our ultra liberal governor from the State of New York while pandering for vote's, is now giving illegal immigrants, drivers licenses and refusing to give the I.C.E. people their names and addresses. So the White House is going to make it hard for the State of New York whenever they can.

Re: US Customs blocking import/export of NY registered vehicles
Seems to me that its a good thing for the Feds to be able to verify vehicle ownership before export. If the state won't let them access that info how are the Feds going to do that?

Re: US Customs blocking import/export of NY registered vehicles
The provision of the new NYS "Green Light" law allowing illegal immigrants to get NYS driver's licenses prevents NYS DMV from sharing information with the Feds. As a result, the Feds have cut off all NYS residents from applying for the Federal Government trusted traveler programs (NEXUS, Global Entry, etc...). This has been well publicized in my area, as we live right on the border with Canada and there is a lot of cross border traffic that will be impacted. This is the first I have heard of the impact of exporting vehicles, but it makes sense. NYS is apparently now the only state that will not share DMV data with the Federal Government - all to protect illegal immigrants.

Re: US Customs blocking import/export of NY registered vehicles
Some of the stuff going on now days reminds me of the political climate in the years that led up to the civil war.
We are far from secession of states right now but we will know how far it will go after the next election. I just hope that sanity will prevail over all. Laws that are currently on the books should be enforced. If a change is due then they should agree to make the change as appropriate. This is just one time where politics has adversely affected our hobby. I hope it's the last time. |

My intention for this post was not political part but the awareness of the export/import of vehicle issues at hand.I have a friend who exports out of NY/NJ vintage cars several times a year to Europe and this will affect his business.

I believe Utah already has gone to .05. A 12oz. beer raises the BAC of a 150 pound person approximately .02. Off course there are other factors involved but the general consensus is .02. And for what its worth you burn of .02 BAC per hour and from what I understand a person's weight isn't a factor.
