Default painting spoked wheels

I have a hub ready:

I don't have a spare axle around. Can anyone post a picture about how to mount it to paint spoked wheels?

I made a stand then mounted a stub on a steering box shaft complete with steering wheel , sit a wire wheel on the stub, held loosly by a wheel nut , this enables you to slowly turn the s/wheel while shooting paint fro all angles front & back getting a coat over all, by turning the wheel you don,t get runs , its hard to shoot right around all spokes with out getting runs somewhere, with in few mins paint tacks off so 7 by sticking a broom handle into hub cap hole move to pre balancing place & hit the next one , Sort of a farmer fix but done dozens this way & no runs , If you want pic mail direct.

I have one of those, and have used it several times, but now that powder coating is so easy and inexpensive, it just sits in the corner of my paint room.

Here is the "tools" I used to paint my coupe wheels. Hope the pictures work.

It is two jack stands, with a rod and a couple of wooden blocks that fit in each side of the wheel. Works great. You can spin the wheel as you paint.

I use 2 saw horses and a piece of pipe or small square tubing, just roll the wheel along on the inside center of the wheel.

Here's the one my dad made back in the 70's. No telling how many wheels have been painted on it by now, but it's served our purposes well over the years. As others have mentioned, it's tough to get good coverage on all the spokes without getting the paint too thick in places. It helps to be able to rotate the wheel in order to get a run or sag to level out. Once a wheel is painted it can easily be lifted off the stand and placed horizontally on top of a gallon paint can to finish drying.
