Another Take on Pick-up Storage
On my 1930 CCPU, the seat is VERY hard to remove, so I decided to try another approach to Tool, fluid, spares, etc. storage.
Left Milk Can contains: -4 innertubes -1.5 gallons oil -1.5 gallons 50/50 mixed coolant -funnel -2 safety flares -Rags, gloves, plastic trash bags (to cover luggage if it rains) -ice scraper Right Milk Can contains: -folding shovel -jack, jack handle, and board to set it on -tire pump -gloves -large socket wrench set -large tool roll (wrenches, large screw driver, grease gun, test light, tire irons, etc) -crank -lug wrench -fan belt Center Milk Box contains: -A model tool pouch full of small tolls -flash light -cable lock and pad lock -flashlight -rubber hammer -spares (condenser, points, plugs, spare bulbs, fuses, etc.) |

Re: Another Take on Pick-up Storage
Looks real good. I like the milk cans! All you need now is a vintage fire extinguisher, cut the bottom off and slide it over your red one.

Paul, I like the cut-off idea, thanks! MH, It'a always "almost winter" in Montana! Clem, up front so they don't freeze! Thanks for the positive replies. I think they look good, and period. John |

Re: Another Take on Pick-up Storage
On tour or trips, guess where everybody's "stuff" that they don't want to haul ends up!
Don't ask how I know.

I like the milk cans. Very creative. I see in the picture you have another milk can for even more spare parts for those really long drives.

Re: Another Take on Pick-up Storage
I have a old wooden Budweiser crate and an old wooden explosives crate in the trunk of the coupe with stuff in it. Not that much though!

Re: Another Take on Pick-up Storage
I have a '29 roadster and had the same problem with getting the cushion out to access that storage area. Then I found out that the back rest is supposed to have supports at the bottom on each side. They are spear-like metal fittings. Once I put them on the car the seat back stayed up and the cushion was easy to get out. You may have the same problem. Under seat storage is very handy.

Great look. Great way to haul stuff. I don't see why any one would think that is at all excessive. My hat is off to you!

Re: Another Take on Pick-up Storage
Frankenhash,
Be sure to leave a hammer out to get the lids offen' them DANG cans! Pics of our new seating. 3/4" plywood seat base has a piano hinge at the front, lid & seats hinge up to expose our CARPET lined tool dept. It's held open by a bicycle kick stand mounted under the lid. Bill W. (Yes, I know the driver's seat is mounted CROOKEDY! Cheap help!)

Re: Another Take on Pick-up Storage
I am amazed at the "stuff" that people pack around in ther cars.In the 50,s I put over 75,000 miles on my Victoria in 7 years & never had more than a handfull of tools & a few small parts under the seat.I think people nowdays are paranoid.A model A properly restored is every bit as reliable as any late model. But,you have to be prepared to do maintenance to keep it that way.Alot of modern car owners dont even lift the hood from one year to the next.
