Default intake manifold vacuum 59ab

Folks i have looked all over my catalogs, tried some parts stores around here(never hurts to try) but no dice. the fitting that came on my engine looks like it has a filter of some sorts on it,but looks like someone in past history poked a hole through it. i am wanting to connect my vacuum line for my distributor up,can i make a fitting and tie this in direct? or does it work better with the fitting i am describing(my apologies for not having a pic of the fitting, if need be ill get one)
thanks
Leroy

No filter on any vacuum line. Is this the one just below the carburetor?

Most likely what you're calling a "filter" is the one way valve to keep backfires from blowing back into the wiper motor and damaging it and, if you have a vacuum storage tank, keeping the vacuum in the tank when there is none in the manifold. Don't know how the appearance of my stock installation compares to yours but this is how it should look. Hope this helps.

You can see where the vacuum line from the distributor attaches via what I call the "banjo" connection also shown here:

Available here: http://macsautoparts.com/early-v8-fo...0R3CHL1072878/

Where to get the other part with the valve on it that screws into the manifold neck through the "banjo" fitting I do not know.

Old Henry ,that's it exactly!!!there are 2 copper rings on it that I left down in the barn, yours looks like an original deal to me. Did your!s come with that? Or did you get it elsewhere? I asked my dad's neighbor( an old car buff, but he could not remember that fitting)
Thanks
Leroy

If you don't have this fitting that goes on the other end of the vacuum line and screws into the block right by the distributor you better get it too.

Available from C&G (not Mac's) here: https://cgfordparts.com/ufolder/show...=161&t=1143&tn=

You can also get the vacuum line with the banjo fitting from C&G too if you want to get both from the same place here: https://cgfordparts.com/ufolder/show...=161&t=1142&tn=

I believe it was called a Silencer by Ford...it once contained a ring of felt in the mushroom part that was intended to muffle that sort of gasp you get when wipers go on or off. It's not a valve of any sort.
