Default Powder coating at home !!!!!!

I bought the powder coating kit from Eastwood and most likely the oven from Harbor Freight I have not made up my mind as of which oven to get. With all of the various engines that I am building and I have a lot of small pieces that require to be painted or powder coated. I would like to know if any of the members here on the HAMB are doing powder coating any advise or recommendation you may have for me. I appreciate any feedback.

Thank You

Frenchy

Look on Freecycle.org , Craigslist, or check local appliance stores for a used oven.

Menard's Home Improvement stores around here sell used appliances for $50. These are the units they remove from a home when they are delivering the new ones.

My brother uses an old house oven, he has modified it by making an addition to the back for larger items ---it looks bad but it works

I bought a oven from the local used appliance dealer($15.00)and an over thermometer from the cooking store to monitor the temp. Did not trust the temp setting on oven. Turned out it was off by 50 degrees. Powder coat kit from Eastwood works great. Dave C

make it an ELECTRIC only ( not gas fired ) or a big Koboom will come to your shop. The off-gassing of the powder coating is melting plastic vinal, not safe to breath ether, so please vent you oven, like others say find one at a yard sale, to start with....To do small parts, pre heat the small parts, like us your wife's hair dryer, not so hot you can't handle em, you can do a "" sake and bake "" type, put the small parts in can or small box with some powder in and roll it around, then hang em in you oven, they will smooth out,, must be clean, all dirt, oil, paint, greese, off.... hey it works, beets trying spry small parts, and fill the air in your shop with explosive gasses,.... don't ask I know this .....OLD....BILL

I have the Eastwood dual voltage kit. Have a used stove/oven that was given away. Works good. I found that preheating is the secret for minimal orange peel. Preheat to like 400 deg. Use a HF infrared temp reader. The diffuser on the gun isn't really necessary.

I started asking all my friends if they knew of a cheap electric oven and one knew of one for free. Works great.

Mine was home built using sheet metal and insulation, with two oven elements(each controlled separately). It has a lid that is hinged for putting in heavy items, i.e.. wheels, and it measures 36 inches each way inside.
