antifreeze
On Sept 13 my wife and I are meeting 35 As from The Model A Touring Club in Reno Nev. for the beginning of our tour to Yellowstone. The first few days will probably be warm, but Yellowstone gets down to the mid 20s at night. I don't usually run antifreeze in my Model As, but maybe this time, I should.
What's the safest antifreeze to use in a Model A, that won't hurt the paint if some gets on it? |

Re: antifreeze
I have used Prestone year round for years and it hasn't caused any paint problems.

Have a great trip Glen. Which "A" gets the honor of marking the trip?

Re: antifreeze
I am not sure about paint damage, but the propylene glycol antifreeze (such as Sierra) is supposed to be safer for use around animals and is less toxic than Ethylene glycol antifreeze. I have used both types and did not notice any significant difference in the cooling capabilities but I don't have any test results to confirm that.

Re: antifreeze
OMG, I envy you. I live in Rhode Island and soon to be a Florida resident. I would love to drive down Rt 1 and see the East Coast but everyone I talk to tells me I am crazy. Hope you make a log of every day and make it available to us crazy's. I have been to Yellowstone and envy your trip. Here's to a safe and pleasant journey. Jim
