Question In line fuel filter

Any one out there using a in line fuel filter that will let gas flow just with gravity feed. If so where did you buy it.

Look for something motorcycle rated or for small engine rated like a big riding lawnmower that does not use a fuel pump. Most NAPA stores can find you a filter when you tell them it is for an older non fuel injected motorcycle.

Yep, I use a plain ole filter [ usually a Fram]. I force fit a 3/8" filter in the line [5/16"] between the tank and firewall.

We have one inline between the firewall and carb. It's plastic. Looks bad but does the job. We got it from Autozone.

The glass "cleanable" filters work, too. I have used them with a couple of As, and combination of carbs.

No filter, just the sediment bowl and never had an issue with sediment clogging my carb. Am I missing something?

Macs sells a filter that fits inside the sediment bulb. The part number is A9156 and it costs $ 4.75. I use it instead of the inline filter ! Hope that helps !

Please do read the thread that Barracuda Boy recommended.

My opinion is that the filters work well for people whose systems are so clean that they really don't need them. Also, be aware that vapor lock season is just around the corner, whereupon the filters will provide a whole new opportunity for problems as loci for vapor bubbles to hang up.

The original type filter inside the cast iron sediment bowl does an excellent job for me, I also use the standpipe filter in the top of the fuel valve just to be SAFE from any big chunks. Bill W.

I too use a filter in the glass sediment bowl. It looks good and doesn't 'clutter up' the engine compartment. I'm weird, inline filters look like an after thought. Personal opinion only. I did pick up a spiral spring at Ace Hardware to keep it in place. Looks natural.

This is what I did a while back just for the feel good sake of it. Didn't like the plastic ones so I took my time and built this. It's worked out well for me and it doesn't stick out too bad.

2x with Bill W. and Drive Shaft Dave. Why the extra filter if not for piece of mind would you need it? If your carb is blocking up the issue is the gas tank rusting and there is no way of just washing it out or flushing it that will stop it but boiling it out and sealing it.

You can pay now or pay later.

I am running the same filter, works great . I assume you have a fuel shut off valve in the cab of the truck.
