Re: STEERING Wheels...1935 thru 1940
DD, your first picture shown for 35 steering wheels does not show the correct wheel used in 35. Your second picture does show the correct steering wheel used in 35. The correct steering wheel for 35 will have the little raised ribs around the front of the wheels gripping area.

John .....I replaced that pic with another wheel showing the ribs (seen BELOW). There sure are a hell of a lot of '35 Fords around showing wheels that DO NOT have the little nubbies. Are you sure there weren't TWO different wheels used in '35? I am certainly NO 1935 x-pert! It would be interesting to hear from Don on these. DD |

Re: STEERING Wheels...1935 thru 1940
DD, The ridges on the 35 steering were removed per a 8/20/35 factory drawing in preparation for Job #1 of the 1936 model year. Enclosed is a summary of 35/36 steering wheel changes that I produced a few years back.

That pretty-much covers the entire '35 production run. I knew that YOU'd have the full scoop. Thanks, Don! DD |

Wow, this is an awesome display. I never realized my 39 Banjo was not from a 39 at all.
Thanks for the effort DD. |

Re: STEERING Wheels...1935 thru 1940
The ribs aren't very durable as many surviving '35 wheels have only traces of them remaining.

Re: STEERING Wheels...1935 thru 1940
According to Archive drawings, the 35-36 steering wheels could be molded from either Phenolic Resin of Soybean Plastic
