Convert 1912 gas light to 12volt electric
Has anyone converted the gas headlights to electric using a standard socket?

Yes, I used the same ones Redmodelt gave the link for on my Dads car. They didn't take
away from the look of the lights and worked real well with the stock reflectors. Go for it. |

Thanks for the reply. No one has the light shown anymore and do not know when they will have them again. Looking for an alternative.

Keep them gas and use a Prest-o-lite tank. Even converting them to electric does not mean that they will be good for night driving.

focused also. Plus how often are you going to be out after dark. Although if you change them out you won't be able to participate in a Gas Light Tour Our local Horsless Carriage club has one once a year. |

I ended up disassembling the halogen light that I had and then getting a new light from an auto parts store and modifying it to fit.

Re: Convert 1912 gas light to 12volt electric
My 1913 T Runabout came to me with electrified Victor #1 headlamps. It appears the conversion was done using a Model A reflector and wiring. The lights work just fine BUT I have no intention of ever driving my car at night. Sometime in the future I will convert back to gas lamps.

Leave the burners in the lamps and simply wire your sockets around the burners and twist the wire tight enough to hold the sockets and bulbs in place.
