Default Distributor and timing gear cover

Can I use a 59a timing gear cover on a 85hp block? I want to use a 2 bolt distributor on it. thanks

yes BUT you will have to overcome distance.32-41 has a cam with a extended nose to reach shorter 32-41 3 bolt distributor .The 42-48 2 bolt dist is longer and will not touch the later cover as dist will be against cam .Easiest way is to use 3 bolt cover with a "bolt on" 3 to 2 adapter which is right thickness to fit cam & dist.

You used to see those aluminum spacers plates, about 1/4in. thick for that purpose. I haven't seen them advertized lately. Does anyone know where to bye one? Walt
