1952 diff ratios
What came stock in a 1952 customline I6 (oops!) 3spd? What would some of you experts recommend behind such a setup for modern city/highway driving? Is there stamping on the diff itself that will identify? Great site by the way... |

Re: 1952 diff ratios
Pretty sure they came with a 3.73 to 1 standard from 49-54. Jack up the rear and turn the wheels to make sure. I run the stock 3.73 in my 1950 Coupe with a flathead-6(no overdrive) at 60 mph. An overdrive setup for yours would make the engine work less and could run at higher highway speeds. |

Re: 1952 diff ratios
Could you run thru the "jack up the rear and turn the wheels" part for me? |

Re: 1952 diff ratios
You rotate the wheel/tire and see how many times the drive shaft turns to get the gear ratio. In a 3.73 to 1, the drive shaft would turn about 3 and 3/4 times to the wheel turning once. |
