New tires
Put four new 215/85-16s on the new sandblasted painted rims today. Car rides and looks good, except I will have to put tubes in to soften the ride, the tire shop put 50lbs pressure in these tires. Is 35lbs proper for tubes?. I doubt its possible to go 35lbs in tubeless.

Re: New tires
If there are no leaks why not just lower the pressure to 35? Why do you think you will need tubes?

Re: New tires
May I ask which brand of tire did you get. Also, could you do me a favor and measure the overall diameter of the tire. I'm guessing that would be around 29 or 30 inches?

Re: New tires
You have to have radial tubes with radial tires. When I researched it they were hard to find, regular tubes don't act right in radials was what the experts say. I never ran across the 50lb pressure.

Re: New tires
Why did they not just put 35 lbs in them initially. What does tubes have to do with a soft ride and 35 pounds ! Wayne

Re: New tires
In our jeep we used to run 8lbs in 15 inch tubeless tires all the time while we were 4 wheeling without any problems. 35 lbs should be no problem at all.

Re: New tires
Yikes 50 psi ! It must ride like a Sherman tank! With meaty tires like that you could go down to 28 psi and with no problems with tube-less. Model A's are light weight cars. You'll like the softer ride much better.

Re: New tires
Those tires are listed as truck/ SUV, that is probably why they put so much
air in them. Way to muck for your car. Bob |

Re: New tires
It actually rides better on a good road without bumps, but when you hit the bumps, you get a bumps on your head.

Re: New tires
Some "old-timers" seem to find it necessary to pull "factual information" like this out of their shriveled-up old butts. Drop your pressure to 35 and carry-on. DD

Re: New tires
I run 215/75R 16, tubeless with 32PSI. Runs nice and smooth.

Re: New tires
As mentioned lower the pressure to 35 with or without tubes...50 is overinflated for a model A load capacity

Re: New tires
I guess I should have seen the need (for Bill's sake) to emphatically highlight the word SOME when referencing "old timers". To be sure, there are also SOME "NEW TIMERS" just as full of it and willing to barf-up the "gospel" for anyone showing signs that they may be inclined to believe the un-founded rhetoric. DD
