1933 transmission cover bolts?
I have removed 4 of these transmission cover slotted bolts, with 3 to go. I suppose they originally had some type of washer to go with the bolt. Where can I can a new set of these slotted bolts and the proper washers. I bet DavidG has a pix of the cover with proper bolt/washers, thanks in advance.

Re: 1933 transmission cover bolts?
If you mean the top cover (shift lever housing), there are six of them and they were 5/16-18 x 7/8" hex head bolts, not slotted, used with 5/16" split lock washers. I do not recall any place on either a four-cylinder or V-8 transmission that uses seven bolts. Please clarify.

Re: 1933 transmission cover bolts?
There are only two slotted bolts on the transmission inspection cover for the clutch pressure plate area. The top shift cover is held on with 6 hex head bolts with lock washers only. The bolts have a thick head and a section under the head without threads (the bolt threads do not extend all the way to the bolt head) Roy has nearly all the hardware you need.

The transmission cover under the floor mat, covers the top of the shift tower, it is cutout for the chatter rods, has 7 slotted heavy bolts, 3 on each side, 1 at the back over the torque tube bell, mine are buggered up and I am missing some type of washer.

The screws for the transmission floor cover, yes they are slotted and Roy has them. They come with the special cup washers. They do not have a lock washer. They are also used in other various places in the floor and screw into caged nuts that are welded to the frame. You can reach Roy at 734-654-9450 or www.fordbolts.com

Re: 1933 transmission cover bolts?
One suggestion I would add is to clean out the nuts really well before installing the new bolt/screws. I would use a thread chaser or a tap to clean them out. I would also put something on the threads such as never-seize.

Re: 1933 transmission cover bolts?
Nowhere in any Ford hardware catalogue can you find any reference to flat-head slotted screws as "bolts". What's heavy about those screws as they are only have a 1/4" thread? A little accuracy in posing the question will go a long way to getting good answers.

They are the same as the center floor, door hinges, and a few other places. different lengths but all are 5/16x24 thread with countersunk slot head with countersunk washers. Call Roy and just buy them, you will be glad you did, nice bolts.

Re: 1933 transmission cover bolts?
Roy advises that they are unique in that they have #12 heads, which is two sizes smaller than a normal 5/16 screw head. That makes sense given that they are to be used with countersunk washers. In other words, not likely to be encountered at a hardware store.

Re: 1933 transmission cover bolts?
Roy sells the correct ones.. PS..... they are the same as door hinge screws on some Early V8's. Same with the cupped washer.
