Turn signal indicator light
Anyone ever have a problem with Drakes turn indicator light for his aluminum Dash insert?
Either i dont know how to wire them, or they're defective, i've tested them out of the box on a battery ( Red wire to positive, black to negative) and they dont light. Do they need to be wire differently? |

Re: Turn signal indicator light
Out of the plastic bag should work as you tested. 12v of course. You can get them pretty cheap from Radio Shack. I have the same setup.
Good luck, Fourdy |

Re: Turn signal indicator light
Thanks Fourdy
I did'nt think about Radio Shack, i thought only Drakes lights would fit, and Radio Shack should be a little cheaper like you said. Drake's are $9.00 each and enormous price for shipping. I've looked at the progress of your 40 Tudor for some time while you were building it, and you sure did a fantastic job i know mine will not look as good as yours, but i hope its decent. |

Re: Turn signal indicator light
If those bulbs are LED's they only worked hooked up with polarity one way. They won't work the other way. Check them both ways. You might find out the polarity was just backwards. That's what happened to me when I hooked up LED's.

Re: Turn signal indicator light
Do these lights have a metal collar near bulb?
If so, put red wire on pos. on battery, touch a wire from the neg. side of battery to collar near bulb. The dash should be your ground. Good luck. Bob |

What would we do without the Ford Barn to get valuable info! The Winner is OLD HENRY, the polarity is BACKWORDS....................Hook them up backwards and they work, normally it would blow the bulb, but guess what<< they're made in Mexico>> I've hooked up a third brake light before with LED's and they were done the usual way. |

Re: Turn signal indicator light
Why do they only work one way? In case some wonder, it is because LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. A diode, by its very nature, is made to only allow current to flow one direction and stop it from flowing the other direction. It is like an electrecal "check valve." It is how the alternating current created by an alternator is turned into direct current - with diodes keeping the current going one direction instead of alternating. Just thought some might like to know that may not have known.
