Default 40 Pickup Build

Just some pics of my non-stock 40 pickup build that is nearing completion. This truck is for my wife to drive and the theme is a late 50s early 60s shop truck.

Enjoy …..

.

Interesting, as you see very few '40s with a 4-bar front end. That's turning out to be one nice pick-up truck, Tom!

Thank you , Coop! I have used the 4-bar front suspension before and I like the ride and handling very much ….

As for the door logo, it was done to emulate what I remember shop trucks having when I grew up. I do not have a hotrod shop, I do not do this for a business, the phone number is not dialable - it’s the earliest phone number I can remember - and the car is my avatar. I did this for me and help others out when I can. It’s a hobby and a passion of mine just like everyone else here are on this forum. I do not mean to offend anyone or come off as someone I am not.

Tom,
The truck looks great to me! I would for sure drive that! Your wife is soooo lucky to have you!
I passed on a custom 40-41 pickup a year ago. I just have too many irons in the fire to do one justice. And I have a hard time just building them stock! Looks great! Thanks for the pictures! I really like those trucks!
Regards,
Chris

Very cool Tom. Great color too and who doesn't love a '40 pickup. I don't know what a 4 bar suspension is and it seems it will look completely stock with front fenders on. Make sure we get to see it assembled and with the grille installed!

Thank you sir! The paint color is a stock 48 blue of sojevkind but there’s urethane flattener added one to one with the paint that gave it the totally different color you see. Crazy how things turn out ….

Chris, 40-41 pickups are just a great looking truck. Nope, the two that I have owned including this one were not stock - it’s just not in me. Not out for trophies but to get in ‘‘em and drive them! Yep, the wife is stoked and can’t wait for it to be finished! I keep telling her she’s lucky to have me but after 47 1/2 years of marriage, she’s still not sure! Lol!

Nice to see another p/u, your wife is going to have the best truck around.

I have a '41...but not stock enough for here.

I live on the other side of Williamsburg from Tom and believe that my wife's barn truck is in the running for coolest early Ford "working" pickup in the neighborhood. In this picture I borrowed her truck to pick up the flathead for my '41 coupe from Jimmy's Engine Shop.

Have fun with the '40 build.

A lot of history in that part of the country, let’s hope they don’t let them tear down all that we enjoy! Nice pickups.

I saw your wife driving the 34p-up with the new flattie motor in the bed coming out of the Shell station in Toano that very same day. Very cool truck! My compliments! We will have to get together sometime soon ….. Jimmy is a real pro and a really nice guy ….
