'54 Fords
A fellow is interested in buying my '40 and wants to trade a '54 Tudor w/239 ohv V8 auto. Aside from the usual checks on body and running gear, what should I look for that's peculiar to the '54 models? Are there any oddball parts that are impossible to find? Thanks for any comments/suggestions. |

Re: '54 Fords
The 54 is an orphan for Ford and Merc. Different distributor, unique head/manifold so you cant swap later Y stuff. Internal parts hard to find and expensive. A few other unique parts also such as fuel pump and I think water pump. Ive an original 239 in my F-350, when it goes ( runs great for now) it will get a 292. |

I put a 64 truck 292 in my 54 Vicky, using a 55 2V manifold, painted the original 54 Ford yellow & 54 decals, hooked to a '55 Fordomatic trans. Looks almost stock except the fuel pump (the orig 54 is mounted upside down) & few if any notice the difference. |
