Roof Insert Wood Bows for '36 3 Window Coupe
Can anyone help me out with dimensional info for the roof insert wood bows for a '36 3 window coupe? I have attached a very rough sketch of a typical bow showing the dimensions I am after. I am not sure if all 3 of the bows are different so I have indicated the required dimensions for bows 1 to 3 (1 being the front-most, 2 the middle, and 3 the rear-most). I am looking for the overall length (L), length of the end cutouts (K), and the height of the curve offset at the center of the bow (H). I also need the cross sectional width & height of the main bows (Section A-A ,a & b) and the end cutouts (Section B-B, a & c).
Yes, I realize these wood pieces are available from a number of sources, but I would like to make them myself if at all possible. I have some clear, straight grained hardwood that should work well. I am trying to build a decent car out of a stripped, badly beat up and rusty hulk. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! |

I have a set of 5w window ones. I wonder if they are the same?

mercmsan from oz - Thanks very much for blowing up my sketch and making it available without the need to open the pdf. I could not figure out how to do that! hrs1948

36coupe- Thank you for your reply. I am not sure whether the '36 3 and 5 window coupe wood bows are the same. One of the suppliers I found uses a separate part number for each coupe model. Maybe one of the FB V8 wizards can tell us for sure! hrs1948

Re: Roof Insert Wood Bows for '36 3 Window Coupe
Here are some numbers:
Bows measured at lower outside corners: front is 39-1/2", center is 40-1/2", and rear is 40" There is 3/4" arch at the middle over a straight edge held across the bottom. Bows are 1-1/8" tall & a strong 1" thick. The ends are cut back 3-1/2" tapered as in the picture and the outside ends are 3/4" thick. The slots start 1/2" in from the end and appear to be 1" long (hard to tell exactly under the washer thing) and just over 1/4" wide. I got these bows from Ford Wood and they list the same three part numbers for both 3W and 5W coupes. |
