Default 1938-39 Ford Book Question(s)

Hi all,

I'm not real active on the Ford Barn but you guys have answered some of my previous questions (and thanks, again for that)(I'm more active on the HAMB). That said, I've got a couple questions for you. I'm potentially interested in the following book from the Ford V8 club:

https://shop.efv8.org/products/1938-...book-softbound

My questions are: What are the differences between a restoration guide and a repair manual? (I'm building a 1938 Ford Club cabriolet...I have a build thread going on the HAMB if anyone has an interest in the project...

https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...hread.1214234/ )

Does this book go into any detail on convertible top and convertible top frame install, adjustments etc.? If not, where might one find this type of information (none of the repair manuals that I've come across have it)?

Thank you again in advance.

The book in question will let you know what came on the car originally. It is not a manual with adjustment procedures.

I am not aware of one book with the info you need. The 38 Ford hardware book has a photo of the brackets for the top.

I don't believe the book offered by the V-8 Club is the book you are looking for. It is an excellent book, that is geared for the restoration of the '38-'39 Ford. Ford made monthly changes, specific colors for different models, interior colors, etc. and the V-8 Book covers them all. If you are restoring a car this is the book you want.

Found this in my 1932 to 1940 Service Bulletins stuck in the back. May not be of any use to you, just thought I would put info out there.

Here's a copy of the top lowering instructions for a 39 conv coupe. Does this help you?

Thank you for that...indeed, once I get the top and frame installed, adjusted etc. this will prove quite helpful I'm sure.
