Re: '40 Pickup full restoration project
Funny you should choose now to ask Just this week I started back painting. ALL of the remaining body panels are now prepared for finish paint.
The cab assembly is completed as is the chassis. Once the front clip and bed are painted / buffed, it should not take too long to complete this project. I'll post some photos as I progress. Thanks for asking!

Re: '40 Pickup full restoration project
Hey guys, it's been a while.
I am happy (thrilled actually) to report that ALL paint work has been completed. I have the box, tail gate and hood to buff.. Once the buffing is done, it shouldn't take too long to complete this project. The hood was beautiful to begin with - perhaps the best piece of sheet metal on this truck. Unfortunately it did not fit well enough (for me anyway) at the cowl. The hood was about 1/2" too wide from side to side across the back. No surprise to those that know me but I split the hood and narrowed the back. It now fits perfectly and, no, even the best eyes could ever tell it had been split.

Can't wait to see the finished product. I'm getting ahead of the game, what is the next project in waiting?

Re: '40 Pickup full restoration project
Not planning on it. With summer approaching rapidly, there is much to do around here. Plus, I really want to concentrate on completing this truck and getting "serious" once again with the convertible. My next planned show (for certain) will be Dearborn next year. I am really looking forward to that!

In my opinion, Dearborn is the best of the best. I'll look forward to meeting you

Re: '40 Pickup full restoration project
Hi Kube, Got a couple of questions, I see that the instrument cluster has a 60MPH speedometer, is this a 1/2 ton pickup? also are you going to use the wheels that have a star stamped on them next to the valve stem hole?

Re: '40 Pickup full restoration project
Kube, sorry I looked at the speedometer wrong, I do see that it has the 100 MPH speedo, but still wonder about the wheels.

Re: '40 Pickup full restoration project
Buffing the hood today. That will be installed promptly thereafter. Once the hood is installed, the remainder of the front clip will be installed. I am getting excited about this one

Re: '40 Pickup full restoration project
A great day indeed! Have the hood on - gaps are beautiful. No doubt a little adjustment will be necessary once the fenders and grille are installed. I'm beginning to see a little light at the end of the tunnel
