Back of speedometer codes Another question
Did not want to hijack 700rpm's thread but I have a related question.
I have been trying to establish a build month for my late 31 Deluxe Tudor. Frame number is 4,515,098 which would be a 3/31/31 built engine. Back of speedometer is marked Y7 which is evidently July 1931. This is the one I removed from this car. Trying to keep the build month within the 3 month period mentioned in the Restoration Guidelines, but this would be a little outside of that. I THINK it would be OK to put July 1931 as the build date for this car at a National Meet because of the excess of engines made in 1931? That is my question. Thanks, Ray Oh, and yes the car has indented firewall, adjustable wide drivers seat, cowl lights, etc, etc. |

Re: Back of speedometer codes Another question
Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards page 1-2 revised 2011 states “The assembly date of the vehicle may be as long as three months after the date the engine was produced (4 months in 1931).”
July would be ok, but no judge will see the markings on the back of the speedometer.
